Registration

Registration is available online through our website, www.mcts.edu. There will be limited in-person registration. Registering on or after the first day of class will incur a $75 late charge

Fall and Spring semester in-person registration is held at our Assunpink Campus only.

Fall Registration will open in May 2024.

Transcript Fees

All transcripts will carry a $5.00 fee for the first copy, and $1.00 for additional copies.

Fee for Returned Checks

A $35.00 fee will be charged if a check is returned by the bank .

Tuition Refunds

All tuition refunds are to be requested in writing. A 50% refund of tuition will be given before the second class session. No tuition refund will be given beyond the second class session. Allow 45 days for processing of refunds.

Parking

The Mercer County Technical School District is not responsible for any damage to the personal property of any student, including automobiles (and their contents) parked on the premises before, during, and after class hours. Please park in the designated area between white lines only. Automobiles bearing handicapped license plates or decals will be allowed to park in designated areas. Other vehicles will be ticketed and fined under township law.

Tuition Costs

Tuition is listed on the District Website (mcts.edu) under “Tuition *Season* *Year*.” Payment is expected at the time of registration. Cash, check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and Discover) are acceptable forms of payment.

Students who are unemployed and/or eligible for financial assistance through DVR, One Stop, etc. should contact the respective organization as well as the Adult Evening School (609-586-5146).

Senior Citizen Program Participation

The Mercer County Technical Schools District encourages senior citizen participation in its Post-Secondary Education programs and activities. Senior citizens. sixty-two (62) years of age or older, may enroll in Post-Secondary Education programs at a 50% tuition discount.

Books and Kits

All students will be required to purchase the necessary textbooks and/or kits for any given course. Cosmetology kits are not refundable.

School Hours

Assunpink is open when school is in session from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Sypek Center is open when school is in session from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The Post-Secondary Education office may be contacted daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Call 609-586-5146.

Safety

Personal protection clothing as well as safety glasses will be required in live-work areas and must be provided and utilized by the student. Students not complying will be dismissed from the program.

The courses listed in this bulletin are not conducted at all of the schools. The following symbols are used to indicate at which school(s) the courses will be held:

Alcoholic Beverage and Drug Possession

It is against the law to bring alcoholic beverages or drugs on public school premises. Individuals who do so will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. On April 15, 1987, P.L. 1987 C. 101 was signed into law. This law prescribes mandatory sentencing for distributing, dispensing, or possessing with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (drugs and alcohol) while on or within 1,000 feet of school property.

Attendance

All classes meet two nights a week for both the fall and spring semesters. Each student, whether a registered apprentice or non-registered apprentice, is responsible to meet all of the same requirements of the course including, but not limited to, class work and attendance. To receive a certificate at the end of the school year, ALL STUDENTS are required to attend a minimum of 144 hours of the scheduled classes for the entire year. Working overtime will not be viewed as an excused absence.

Field Trips

The Post-Secondary Education of the Mercer County Technical School District does not provide transportation to or from field trip locations. The cost of transportation and associated liability is the responsibility of the participating individual(s).

Conduct

The administration reserves the right to exclude, at any time, a student whose conduct or academic standing is judged to be undesirable. In such cases, no part of the fees which may have been paid in advance will be refunded.

Cell Phone Usage

During class, all cell phones must be turned off. No calls are to be made during the instructional period. Calls may be answered outside of classrooms only during breaks at designated times.

Student Complaint and Grievance

Students shall have to appeal, in writing, problems, and concerns allegedly caused by misinterpretation, violation, or inequitable application of students' rights. A student grievance procedure has been adopted by the Board of Education which permits one to secure, at the earliest and most direct level, an equitable solution to the problem for those parties involved with the grievance. A copy of the student grievance procedure may be obtained at the school

Inclement Weather or Emergency

Classes may be canceled due to inclement weather or other hazardous conditions. We will send out a text, email and phone alert to inform students and staff.

Smoking

Mercer County Technical Schools – Assunpink Center and Arthur R. Sypek Center is 100% Smoke Free. This includes the use of E-Cigarettes. Smoking is prohibited on the school campus.

Special Courses

Other training programs will be offered by the school as the need arises. If your company, agency, or plant needs a program, please contact the school for more information as to offerings and fees.

Course Cancellation

A minimum number of students is generally required to begin a course. The school reserves the right to cancel any course for which there is insufficient enrollment. Students who have registered for the canceled classes will be notified as soon as possible, and any tuition paid will be reimbursed. Allow 45 days for processing refunds.

Certificates of Completion

Students who successfully meet the requirements of the course will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion.

Apprentices who successfully complete their respective programs will be awarded Certificates of Completion. The certificates are awarded jointly by the school and the Department of Labor.
