Program
Objective
The Ornamental Horticulture/Landscape Design Program provides
practical and theoretical preparation for positions in landscape
planning, floral design, and greenhouse, nursery, and turfgrass
management.
Plant Science OHT 101 This introduction to the field of plant
science includes topics in botany and plant physiology, plant growth,
leaves, roots, flowers, plant genetics, and a survey of the taxonomy of
the plant kingdoms.

Landscape Plant Materials Seminar
Provides an orientation to the adaptation of plants to their
environment and the selection of appropriate plant materials for the
landscape design planner and architect. Topics will include
herbaceous annual and perennial plants and woody trees and shrubs
including deciduous and evergreen trees. Materials covered will
include an introduction to the use of paving stones and wall systems
commonly used in the landscape design.

Ornamental
Horticulture OHT 102
This
course examines plant propagation, insect pests and diseases of trees
and shrubs, irrigation, and other horticultural operations and
principles of landscape design.

Landscape Design Seminar
This course presents an introduction to the materials and methods used
in planning the residential landscape. An emphasis will be placed
on design principles and elements in addition to the graphic skills
needed to complete a landscape design.
