Program
Objective
Tech-Prep Aviation Studies is designed to address the needs of academically
successful students who have strong interests in pursuing careers in
the civil aviation industry. As the field of civil aviation expands,
so does the need for technicians, managers, air-traffic control personnel,
customer service personnel, and pilots. Many rewarding entry-level careers
are available to graduates with associate degrees or trade certification
in aviation sciences. In recognition of this phenomenon, many two and
four year colleges now have programs specific to the needs of the aviation
industry and students seeking careers either in the air, behind a desk,
or on the tarmac. Aviation Studies leads toward the Associate of Applied
Science (A.A.S.) degrees in Aviation Flight Technology, Aviation Management,
or Aviation Customer Relations at Mercer County Community College and
addresses issues involving the principles of flight, navigation, air-traffic
control, aircraft power plants, airframes, avionics, maintenance, airport
management, aircraft design, meteorology, aviation manufacturing, and
production management.
