Performing Arts Faculty Bios
Janell Byrne
(Ballet) a native of California, studied with Stanley Holden and
Margaret Hills in Los Angeles. A graduate of the Juilliard School, where
she studied with Alfredo Corvino, Ms. Byrne has taught at Mercer County
Community College, Princeton University, Trenton State College, and the
Lawrenceville School. She has performed with Dance-Works and Teamwork
Dance and is Director of Mercer Dance Ensemble. In addition to teaching
ballet with the MCPAHS, Ms. Byrne is on the faculty of Mercer County
Community College and the American Repertory Ballet School in
Princeton.
Cheryl Daddona
(Dance) has taught Jazz Dance I & II, Ballet, Dance for Actors and
Singers, and Pilates Exercise classes at MCPAHS. She received her
training at The School of the Princeton Ballet and from Butler
University where she graduated in 1995 with a degree in dance. She
was a member of the Princeton Ballet II, a pre-professional dance
company, where she performed in various productions including The
Nutcracker. As a high school student she was selected by her
school to attend the Governor's School of the Arts in New Jersey.
Miss "D" has been a member of the faculty at MCPAHS for the past nine
years. She has also taught at MCCC and The Princeton Ballet
Society in addition to other dance studios throughout central New
Jersey. She had choreographed for Bordentown Regional High
School's productions of West Side Story, Guys and
Dolls, and The Music Man. Her choreography
has been performed by the Mercer Dance Ensemble and she was a featured
artist with The Company of Music, Theatre and Dance in Jackson, NJ.
Peter deMets,
(Vocal Music) Mr. deMets, Voice Teacher and Accompanist, is the Artistic
Director of the Chamber Arts Guild of Doylestown PA, and the Director of
Music/Organist at Forest Grove Presbyterian Church. He also served for
several seasons as the principle conductor of the Princeton Opera
Association. He has conducted productions of West Side Story,
The Secret
Garden, Hansel and Gretel, Fiddler on the Roof,
South Pacific, Man of La Mancha, Bye Bye Birdie,
Godspell, and Merrily We Roll Along.
