PHILOSOPHY

The faculty of the Health Careers Center of the Mercer County Technical Schools believes that:

• Adult education is a partnership between teacher and student that requires the sustained cooperative effort of both parties to achieve learning objectives.
• Health Careers training programs should be available to any person, regardless of sex, race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, affectional or sexual orientation or marital status who shows reasonable promise of being able to complete the program.
• All levels of health care workers are valuable to the health care team.
• Curricula for health careers programs should be designed to prepare the student in the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet the legal standards of practice for the specific training area.
• Program completers will be qualified to sit for the certifying or licensing examinations of their specific area of study.
• Program completers will be prepared to function effectively as entry-level personnel in their specific area of study.
