Residential Air-Conditioning and Heating Technician
The entry-level technician
performs start-up and preventive maintenance, service and repair, and/or
installation of residential heating and air-conditioning equipment that
is five tons or
smaller.
The technician will perform
unsupervised or with minor, occasional supervision those tasks involve
in installation and start-up and preventive maintenance. Although
the degree of supervision varies with the hiring contractor and the
individual's abilities, the entry-level technician will be supervised to
some extent when servicing or repairing residential equipment.
Light Commercial Air-Conditioning and
Heating Technician
The entry-level technician performs start-up preventive maintenance,
service and repair, and/or installation of light commercial heating and
air-conditioning systems. Light commercial equipment is considered
here to be six to twenty ton systems.
The technician is relatively unsupervised when performing start-up
and preventive maintenance and installing equipment. However,
he/she is somewhat supervised when servicing and repairing light
commercial equipment.
