ARCHITECTURE and ENGINEERING DESIGN

Computer Aided Design

This course is designed to prepare students for a career in architectural and engineering design computer-aided (CAD), and computer assisted manufacturing (CAM).  Students received  hands on training in a state of art computer lab equipped with the latest versions of AutoCAD and MicroStation.  Students experience in-depth training in two-dimensional drawing then proceed to three-dimensional drawings.  In the CAM portion or the program the student create a prototype of a three dimensional object on a CNC Milling Machine.  The student have the opportunity to be certified as a drafter through the America Design Drafter Association (ADDA) and to be certified in AutoCAD.  The successful student can look forward to a rewarding career in the fields of Mechanical, Civil/Surveying, Architectural Drafting or Electrical.  Architecture and Engineering Design is an excellent opportunity to jump-start your college career in Engineering and Architecture.

Architecture and Engineering Design is a 2-year sequence of study leading to a post secondary training program or college program in the engineering design field.  Classroom activities require critical thinking skills for hands-on problem solving and CAD software use.  Students learn the fundamental principles of productivity, work ethics, teamwork, and flexibility required in the workplace through cooperative activities.  Leadership and entrepreneurship are developed through work-based training such as job shadowing, mentoring, and internships.  Graduates of the Architecture and Engineering Design program qualify for college credit.
