Introduction to Water and Wastewater Operations

A 180-hour program meeting State Department of Environmental Protection and Energy's guidelines which prepares individuals to work in municipal water and sewage treatment plants.  Successful completion of this course enables students to sit for the New Jersey State examination at the T-1, S-1, C-1 and W-1 levels for water and wastewater operations licensing. HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED REQUIRED.

4. Basic electricity - Ohm's Law - series/parallel circuits
5. Motors and name plate retinas
6. Instrumentation
7. Simple machine - mechanical advantage
8. Basic chemistry, atomic structure, elements and components
9. Symbols and equations
10. Periodic table/pH values
11. Solution preparation for testing
12. Cell structure/metabolism
13. Micro-organisms, classifications, environment effect
14. Water and wastewater typical micros
15. Terminology and laboratory equipment familiarization

4   45 hour units; 2 evenings per week, 3 hours per evening
