Telecommunications

The student will be able to describe and perform basic wiring installation procedures in accordance with industry standards.  The course includes the following three-hour sessions:
 

Telecommunications I - CS115
1. Introduction and safety
2. Tools of the trade
3. Tools of the trade
4. Basic electricity - Ohm's Law - ETC
5. Basic telecommunications
6. Color code applications
7. Ladder safety
8. Wiring routes and planning the job
9. Pole climbing (optional)
10. Underground and aerial cables
11. Inside wiring and bonding
12. Inside wiring and NIDS                    

Telecommunications II - CS116
1. Punch down terminal
2. Punch down terminal
3. Buried service wiring and terminals
4. Introduction to terminals and line transfers
5. Meters and test equipment
6. Meters and test equipment
7. Central telephone office
8. PBX service
9. Cable splicing module
10. Cable splicing module
11. Trouble shooting
12. Trouble shooting

Location:  Assunpink
2   36 hour units, 2 evenings per week, 3 hours per evening (12 weeks)
This is a 72-hour program containing both theory and hands-on application.  Content is in accordance with industry procedures.
