HVAC Controls

The following two 36-hour units of HVAC pneumatics and related digital controls will be delivered two nights per week for three hours each night.
 
Pneumatic Controls - HVAC  - MM403
The student will be able to explain the function of the primary components of a pneumatic HVAC control circuit and their circuit logic and interrelationship.
1. Type of control systems
2. Compressor air stations and components
3. Pneumatic thermostat calibration and operation
4. Pneumatic controllers
5. Receiver controllers
6. Receiver controllers - application
7. Pneumatic electric relays
8. Electric pneumatic relays
9. Control valves
10. Pneumatic diagrams
11. Pneumatic control set-ups
12. Applications and systems

Direct Digital Control (D.D.C.) - MM404
The student will become familiar with microprocessors and three types of related system design as relates to HVAC industrial control systems.
1. Introduction to microprocessors
2. Basic programming concepts and peripheral devices
3. Local, remote and central systems
4. System "A" discussion
5. Class trip to observe a System "A" site
6. System "B" discussion
7. Class trip to observe a System "B" site
8. System "C" discussion
9. Class trip to observe a System "C" site
10. Review and comparison of the three system
11. In-class system design
12. Review and examination

Location:  Sypek Center
2   36-hour units, 2 evenings per week, 3 hours per evening (12 weeks)
